SOLO & ALL ENSEMBLES

NEW IN THE DANCE INDUSTRY—a contest within a contest!

Solo and ensemble contest Friday, all ages—competing by grade level.

All  solo are awarded with 1st–3rd place in each grade level! 

Ensembles are awarded in by divisions for 1st–3rd as well.

The winning senior grade level public school soloist will win a $1,000 scholarship.

TEAM & OFFICERS

Awards for TEAM and Officers will be awarded at the end of the Battle of the Best!


  1. Kay-Tee Awards (Super Sweepstakes): Teams/Officers who enter 3 or more team categories and a cumulative score of 280.
  2. Choreography Awards: Team/Officers recognition of quality choreography to teams with a perfect score.
  3. Technique Awards: Team/Officers recognition of amazing technique to teams with a perfect score.
  4. Precision Awards: Team/Officers recognition of impeccable precision to teams with a perfect score. 
  5. Overall Effect: Team/Officers recognition for outstanding overall effect with a perfect score.
  6. Best in Category: Top-scoring routine in each category/division.
  7. Best in Category Overall: Highest scoring performance in each dance category, regardless of division or classification. Can only recieve if there is competition in that category.
  8. Best in Class: Top-scoring Team/Officers/Specialty Groups in each division. Teams/Officers may be combined by division size based on the number of entries at the discretion of MDDTTexas.


Top-Scoring Teams/Officers Receive a Banner to Proudly Hang in Their School!


EACH TEAM/OFFICER GROUP ENTERING AT LEAST 3 ENTRIES—will be eligible to compete with their highest score in The Battle of the Best!

B A T T L E O F T H E B E S T • A W A R D S

Each team/officer (if entered in 3 categories) will have the opportunity to compete for the title of

“BATTLE OF THE BEST • MDDTTEXAS CHAMPIONSHIP”


 ''BEST OF THE BEST" JUDGES ARE HALL OF FAME RECIPIENTS OF TEXAS DANCE EDUCATORS' ASSOCIATION  - CAPTION JUDGING STYLE (not day judges)

Betty Buchner, MaryBeth Kepper, Mary Wendt and Shelley Wayne


High school, jr high, and all studios will compete in a battle of the highest performing routine of the day.

Team and officers compete separately.


Examples:

(Battle of the Best High School–Team) (Battle of the Best Jr. High–Team) (Battle of the Best Studio–Team)

(Battle of the Best High School–Officers) (Battle of the Best Jr. High–Officers) (Battle of the Best Studio–Officers)

(If there is a grouping that does not have 2 in their classification, they will perform as an exhibition.)


Each classification (high school ) (jr high ) (studio) will have a 1st place winner, 2nd and 3rd in both team and officer divisions. 


Winning team and officer group will receive a CHAMPIONSHIP RING AND TROPHY!
