STATE COMPETITION

DIVISIONS

 PUBLIC/PRIVATE SCHOOL DIVISIONS -50% of your team must dance

Divisions can be combined.

  • Small High School: (up to 15 dancers) 
  • Medium High School: (16-25 dancers) 
  • Large High School: (26-35 dancers) 
  • Extra Large High School: (36-45 dancers)
  • Super High School: (46+)​ 

 

STUDIO DIVISIONS 

  • Tiny/Mascot: (are in PreK/K- 1st grade) 
  • Minis/Elementary: (are in 2nd-4th grade) 
  • Youth/Intermediate: (are in 5-6th grade) 
  • Juniors: (are in 7-8th grade) 
  • Seniors: (are in 9-12th grade)

(If team has performers in multiple grades - the team should enter in the division that the oldest performer is in) ex. performers have 1st graders, and 2nd graders - they should enter as Mini-Elementary 

 

ELEMENTARY DIVISION

 

JUNIOR HIGH DIVISION


SPECIALITY TEAM DIVISIONS:

  • JV Team Division
  • All Male Division
  • Elite Team (Any team with less than 50% of members performing, will be entered in the "elite" team division) 
  • Social Officer Division


HIGH SCHOOL DANCE OFFICER DIVISIONS (Divisions are divided according to the number of performing dance officers on the team):

  • Small (2-4 Performing Members)
  • Medium (5-6 Performing Members)
  • Large (7-8 Performing Members)
  • X-Large (9+ Performing Members) 

2024 STATE CONTEST FEES

  • Team: $290
  • Officer: $260 (dance & social)
  • Tops in Texas Solo (solo division): $115 
  • Duet: $150
  • Trio: $160
  • Small Ensemble (4-8 dancers): $170
  • Medium Ensemble (9-12 dancers): $180
  • Large Ensemble (13-19 dancers): $200
  • X-Large Ensemble (20+ dancers): $210

STATE AWARDS

TEAMS / OFFICERS

  • Sweepstakes: Team/Officers entering 3 or more categories and receiving an 87 or above on each routine will qualify for the Sweepstakes award.
  • KAY-TEE Awards (Super Sweepstakes): Teams/Officers who enter 3 or more team categories and score 90 or above from each judge on each routine.
  • Choreography Awards: Team/Officers Recognition of quality choreography in any routine entered.
  • Best in Category: TOP scoring routine in each category with a score of at least 90.(AVERAGE)
  • Best in Class: TOP scoring team/officers/specialty groups in each division. (SMALL - MEDIUM - LARGE - XLARGE - SUPER) may be combined
  • Top Scoring Teams & Officers receive a banner to hang proudly in their school!


ENSEMBLES AWARDS

SOLO AWARDS

  • Tops in Texas:  All soloists compete by grade . Public and Private Schools are separate from Dance Studios in solo division.  Recognition will be given to all solo participants who score 85 or higher. Placement of winners will be 1st - 5th place.


 STATE AWARDS

  • Top Scoring Team (ALL ENTRIES): must perform at least 3 routines
  • (take the top three scores of a team and add - if team performs more than 3, the top three scores are used)
  • Top Scoring Officers (ALL ENTRIES): must perform at least 3 routines
  • (take the top three scores of the officer line and add - if team performs more than 3, the top three scores are used)
  • Top Scoring Routine of the Day: (any one routine with the highest score of the day) does not matter how many routines the team competed in. There is a team award and an officer award.


TEXAS PRIDE AWARDS

  • Best Technique: Judges’ Choice
  • Most Entertaining: Judges’ Choice on team or officer line
